Softlink spreads the word in Qld - Friday, March 21, 2008

Australian developer Softlink will provide its Oliver library management system to Brisbane Catholic Education for use in 133 schools between the Gold Coast and Hervey Bay. The software will replace a number of legacy systems, including Softlink's own Alice, and Oasis.

"The implementation of Oliver will allow BCE schools to manage their resources more effectively and provide the potential — into the future — for resourcesharing of electronic documents, books, multimedia, and other learning resources with other BCE schools," explained Bob Dunne, CEO of Softlink.

GBST wins new deal from Tolhurst - Friday, March 21, 2008

The Tolhurst financial services company has signed a three-year extension of its contract with GBST, an Australian provider of client accounting and securities transaction technology. The deal covers the continued provision of an integrated front-office and back-office processing system through the GBST Shares securities transaction processing solution.

TechnologyOne backs Microsoft - Friday, March 21, 2008

Queensland developer TechnologyOne has been selected on a panel of international developers that will help Microsoft refine its Visual Studio Team System software. TechnologyOne has been working with Team System for 18 months, using it across its Application Development Framework (ADF) and its Core Enterprise Suite of business software solutions, explained Peter Beahan, system architect for ADF at TechnologyOne.

As a member of the Microsoft panel TechnologyOne will review the software, evaluate the specifications, and provide feedback on the functionality of system features. "The benefits of this partnership are innumerable, including gaining early insights into the direction and functionality of new and upcoming Microsoft products and the ability to influence the feature set of new products through participation in open discussions," Beahan added.

Performance pack a hit for TechOne - Friday, March 14, 2008

Queensland-based developer TechnologyOne has won three diverse users for its Performance Planning system in the form of Adelaide Airport, Marrickville City Council in Sydney, and The Barossa Council. The system is a Web-enabled strategic planning and corporate performance management solution, explained Mike Preedy, general manager for property and local government at TechnologyOne. "There is an increasing need for organisations to lower costs and increase the bottom line, while sustaining a competitive advantage," he added.

Technology One Half year results - Friday, March 07, 2008

TechOne signs users for new system - Friday, February 22, 2008

TechnologyOne has signed up "more than 10 large government and commercial users" for a new business intelligence solution before the product has even been launched, according to executive chairman Adrian Di Marco. He added that the company has high expectations for the product, which is built on its Connected Intelligence platform and integrated tightly with TechnologyOne's suite of enterprise software. "We anticipate that more than 400 customers will adopt our business intelligence solution over the next several years," Di Marco said. The solution is expected to have special appeal in TechnologyOne's home state of Queensland, where many councils are facing amalgamation. "The system will help them with their new consolidated reporting requirements," Di Marco explained.

Almost Aussie is OK for DFAT - Friday, February 15, 2008

Opengear, a US company set up by Queenslander Bob Waldie to develop open source infrastructure management systems, has been selected for use in all Australian embassies, consulates, high commissions, and territories around the world. Opengear's console servers will allow systems administrators and network managers at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to monitor and control the department's computers and networks remotely from Australia.

Wotif.com hungry for acquisitions - Friday, February 08, 2008

Online accommodation services provider Wotif.com has shown its liking for expansion through acquisition by agreeing to acquire Asia Web Direct soon after moving to compulsorily mop up outstanding shares in Travel.com.au. The transaction involves a swap of shares and cash to the value of $A34.2 million. Asia Web Direct provides online accommodation, booking, and information services from offices in Bangkok. It has a staff of about 150. "The combination of Wotif.com and Asia Web Direct presents an exciting opportunity to secure a greater share of the South-East Asian accommodation markets," explained Robbie Cooke, managing director of Wotif.com. "These markets are likely to see strong growth in coming years as consumers in Asia follow the worldwide trend of booking their accommodation needs online," he added.

TechOne ties up two more councils - Friday, February 01, 2008

Applications from Queensland developer TechnologyOne have been selected by the WA councils of the City of Joondalup and the Shire of Busselton. Joondalup, a former user of TechnologyOne's property and rating system, is to implement the Financials and Works & Assets applications. Busselton will implement a fully-integrated Local Government suite. "At TechnologyOne we provide a one-stop shop with an entire integrated system that is at the top of its game and is best in class," claimed Adrian Di Marco, executive chairman of TechnologyOne.

TechOne opens UK support centre - Friday, February 01, 2008

TechnologyOne has joined forces with Imass, a British developer of geographical information systems, to set up a shared service centre. The centre will enable customers to access TechnologyOne's solutions through a software-as-a-service delivery model, said Adrian Di Marco, executive chairman of the Queensland developer. "The shared service delivery is ideal for our public sector clients as it endorses the central government's guidelines on enhanced partnerships between local authorities. It provides local authorities with a simple way to reduce infrastructure costs and share technical resources to greater effect without compromising the quality of the solution or service provided to the community," Di Marco explained.
