• Software Qld is a member-led industry association run by members for it's members.
• The members are the principle stakeholders of Software Qld, and have direct input into the operating rules, bylaws and governance of the association via the executive committee.
• The executive committee is made up of member companies who are nominated and elected each year.
• Despite most of its members and some of its sponsors being vendors, Software Queensland as an industry body remains vendor neutral representing the interests of the Software Industry as a whole.
• Output of Software Queensland's initiatives remains the Intellectual Property of the association to be shared with and for the benefit of the membership.

• In 2004 Software Queensland was established to fill a void that was seen in other industry associations such as the ACS and the AIIA to address the specific needs of Software development companies.
• Software Queensland was founded on three basic tenets that remain unchanged to this day:
  • Self Help organisation where where peers can assist each other and the association can assist in business development for the membership. To use the collective brainpower of top software companies so that members can leverage the expertise of their peers and tackle issues unique to their profession.
  • Raise the ICT Industry profile and awareness in the community. To advance & shape the future of the ICT profession and the Industry.
  • Lobby Government on behalf of members to address issues of concern to the membership. Be a source of Senior Industry ‘opinion’ to relevant industry, legislative, and academic organisations.
